Licence To Kill

Michael Kamen/1989/MCA Records

While Timothy Dalton's first instalment was a solid and standard Bond in both film and score, his second takes him out of familiar territory with the music following, save for the title song: a fine embellished affair based on the riff from GOLDFINGER but probably better than that song. Michael Kamen's score follows in the footsteps of his work for DIE HARD and LETHAL WEAPON, thus defining action music for the 80's and beyond; his take on 007 is unmistakeably 007 with a harder edge, the swagger matched by the savagery. Vic Flick has never sounded cooler. - Charlie Brigden
